The Silver Laced variety was developed from the same early European Polish stock as Gold Laced.
As poultry genetics advanced during the 1800s, breeders selected birds carrying the silver gene instead of the gold gene while preserving the distinctive black lacing. English breeders selectively bred birds carrying the silver plumage gene, replacing the rich golden feather color with brilliant silver-white while maintaining the crisp black lacing that made the Gold Laced variety so admired. The result was a bird with striking contrast and remarkable feather definition that quickly became a favorite on the exhibition circuit.
Today, the Silver Laced Polish is celebrated for its refined appearance and timeless elegance. Its bright silver feathers outlined in jet black create one of the most dramatic color patterns found in ornamental poultry, making it a standout addition to backyard flocks and poultry shows alike.
