Americana - Feb 21 Pickup
Americana are a favorite for backyard flocks because they’re fun, colorful, and full of personality especially when it comes to egg color. This line of Americana are known for laying a unique “aqua” blue egg making every egg basket pop with a splash of color!
Even though the names sound similar, Americana and Ameraucana are not the same thing: ·Ameraucana is an official recognized pure breed, with specific standards for body type, feather patterns, and accepted colors.
·Americana is a common breed name used for hybrid birds stemming from the original line, which are typically crossbred chickens that carry the blue-egg gene. Because they aren’t held to a strict breed standard, they vary widely in appearance.
One of the best parts about Americanas is the variety. No two flocks look exactly the same. They can come in a wide range of colors and patterns plus have fun features like muffs and beards, giving them that fluffy-cheeked look that chicken keepers love.
